About The Position

This position provides a wide variety of complex and diversified HR skills, including technical, clerical, and administrative support. The Association HR Representative will provide administrative support and coordination for assigned local human resources responsibilities, performing a moderate amount of complex tasks to support the Association within the Human Resources area. This role works closely with the Human Resource Manager to ensure functional area best practice recommendations are met within established time frames, performing duties with a high level of initiative, discretion, and confidentiality. The position will also assist in the Summer Camp process, which includes talent acquisition, onboarding, and orientation.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent Education or experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Proficient in computer operations of the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, to understand and effectively carry out standard programs and instructions.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, integrity, sound professional judgment, tact, maturity, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work promptly and within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work in an office setting, with occasional to frequent distractions and opportunities to demonstrate positive collaboration amongst staff, visitors, and the public.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Association Human Resources Representative under the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Provide Human Resources functions including updating legal postings, processing benefits for new hires, assisting in the onboarding and orientation of new hires, camp staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Complete special reports and projects relating to Human Resources, including Workday reports, social media posts, maintaining personnel files, filing, tracking mandatory staff training, and other projects.
  • Provide administrative support for Human Resources functions, including updating the policy manual, coordinating and implementing hiring procedures (creating and placing advertisements, supporting search committees, conducting background screenings, and maintaining search files).
  • Review and process Workday transactions as assigned.
  • Coordinate affirmative action/EEO compliant hiring procedures, including position advertisements, salary transparency, position announcements, supporting search committees, conducting background/DMV screenings, and maintenance of search files.
  • Maintain all personnel files/records with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Forward motor vehicle screen data to PW Wood for clearance to drive on behalf of the Association.
  • Assist HR Manager with planning the roll-out of HR systems, transactions, and related policy changes.
  • Assist HR Manager with anticipating and planning for overall Association staffing needs.
  • Assist with developing workforce development, including training materials, procedures, and strategies.
  • Advise employees on Human Resource policy and procedures.
  • Ensure Association compliance with required Compliance Trainings, annual compliance, and Civil Rights plans & postings.
  • Ensure all required civil rights and employment information are posted clearly in the office.
  • Assist HR Manager in setting up 4-H summer camps including talent acquisition and ACA certification.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and meetings.
  • Participate in staff evaluation processes.
  • Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe living and working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
