About The Position

Marshall Community Credit Union is seeking an HR & Payroll Coordinator to manage payroll and benefits, maintain employee records, and support various HR functions from recruitment to employee departure. This role offers real ownership and the opportunity to build broad HR experience within a close-knit team. The position involves a hybrid work schedule, balancing onsite responsibilities with remote flexibility.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in payroll processing, HR support, or a related administrative role.
  • Working knowledge of payroll and benefits administration principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with employment laws, benefits administration, and HR documentation.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, especially around payroll deadlines, open enrollment, and audit cycles.
  • A high degree of professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to an inclusive workplace and to employee experience and well-being.
  • Ability to work onsite as needed for in-person HR support, with occasional travel to other branches.
  • Ability to work in an office setting, mostly seated, occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to do extensive reading and detailed computer work with data and figures.

Responsibilities

  • Own bi-weekly payroll from start to finish, including auditing timecards, deductions, and adjustments, and ensuring compliance with wage and hour requirements.
  • Handle benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations, collaborating with brokers and vendors.
  • Manage annual open enrollment and maintain COBRA compliance.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant employee records and personnel files in the HRIS and related systems.
  • Prepare HR correspondence such as offer letters, status changes, and leave notices.
  • Support recruiting by posting openings, managing applicant tracking data, and assisting candidates and hiring managers.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including background checks, documentation, and checklists.
  • Track performance appraisals, disciplinary documentation, and required certifications and training records.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory reporting, including I-9, EEO, and AAP documentation.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager on department projects and initiatives.
