Human Resource Partner

WESTERN STATE BANKWest Fargo, ND

About The Position

At Western State Bank, we’re built around connections, with our customers, our team members, and the communities we call home. Since 1902, we’ve stayed true to our hometown banking roots while continuing to grow, evolve, and look for new ways to improve someone’s life. We’re looking for an HR Partner who shares that mindset and wants to make a meaningful impact on our team members and leaders. As an HR Partner, you’ll be a trusted resource, coach, and partner to leaders across Western. You’ll listen, ask thoughtful questions, bring forward ideas, and help turn business needs into practical people solutions. Most importantly, you’ll build strong relationships and help create an environment where our team members and teams can do their best work.

Requirements

  • Experience partnering with leaders on a broad range of HR and people-related matters.
  • Listen first, ask good questions, and stay curious before jumping to a solution.
  • Comfortable coaching, influencing, and respectfully challenging leaders when needed.
  • Navigate sensitive and complex situations with sound judgment, empathy, and discretion.
  • Communicate openly and clearly and build relationships with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Think strategically but aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • Bring new ideas to the table and look for creative ways to make our people practices better.
  • Believe being a great team player means supporting others, following through, and sometimes doing more than expected.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and team members and serve as a go-to partner for HR guidance and support.
  • Coach leaders through team member relations, performance management, development, and those sometimes-difficult conversations that come with leading a team.
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, talent development, succession planning, and team member engagement.
  • Help identify talent needs and work alongside recruiting and compensation to find solutions that support our teams and the business.
  • Listen and learn from team member feedback, HR data, and business trends to identify opportunities and recommend meaningful action.
  • Support teams through growth and change with open, thoughtful, and frequent communication.
  • Help ensure our HR practices are consistent, fair, and aligned with Western’s policies, values, and employment requirements.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the team member experience and when something isn’t working, help make it right.
