About The Position

The HR Operations Associate – Payroll & Systems is responsible for the end-to-end execution, accuracy, and compliance of payroll operations. This role serves as the primary owner of payroll processes and payroll-impacting systems, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This position partners closely with the Professional Employer Organization (PEO), Finance, and site leadership to deliver timely and accurate payroll for a multi-shift workforce. In addition to payroll ownership, the role provides support in benefits administration, employee inquiries, and select HR operational initiatives to ensure a high-quality employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree required.
  • 2+ years of HR experience, including payroll administration (PEO experience preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, timekeeping practices, and wage and hour regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service orientation
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting payroll for hourly and multi-shift workforces in a manufacturing or GMP environment
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Workday, UKG)
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including New Jersey requirements
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, compliance reviews, and data integrity initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute biweekly payroll in partnership with ADP (PEO), including data validation, processing, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
  • Review and validate timesheets, pay adjustments, deductions, expense reimbursements, and other payroll inputs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage payroll calendars, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Oversee timekeeping processes for a multi-shift workforce, ensuring accurate tracking of hours worked.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime and shift-based requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, timekeeping issues, and employee inquiries.
  • Own all payroll-impacting HRIS transactions, including hires, terminations, transfers, and compensation changes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes from a systems and payroll perspective.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll reporting, including expense-related payroll entries, variance analysis, and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper classification and tax treatment of expense reimbursements in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Lead or support payroll audits, including expense-related reviews, compliance checks, and internal control processes.
  • Support administration of employee benefits programs by maintaining records and coordinating with the PEO.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll, providing timely and customer-focused support.
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries.
  • Partner with the PEO to resolve payroll and benefits issues and ensure accurate processing.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and audit of HR compliance documentation, policies, and regulatory reporting
  • Support HR initiatives such as onboarding and offboarding, performance management cycles, training coordination, employee engagement, and internal communications, as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement efforts to enhance HR and payroll operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by HR leadership
