About The Position

Freed Industrial Services (FIS) is a fast-growing, multi-state industrial & electrical services contractor. We are a committed to building practical, people‑first processes that support both our field and office teams. The Opportunity The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily HR operations, ensuring smooth management of core HR functions such as employee onboarding, employee communication, and benefits administration. This role is essential in developing and refining foundational HR processes that support the company's continued growth. As FIS expands, the HR Manager will play a key part in intentionally shaping the HR function. This includes establishing clear processes and fostering a strong, positive employee experience throughout the organization. What You’ll Focus On First Build and document a repeatable onboarding Create practical employee guides (time, expenses, benefits, etc.) Reduce inbound employee questions through better processes Own benefits administration, including health insurance Learn and stabilize a newly implemented construction HR/payroll system

Requirements

  • 5+ years HR experience in construction or industrial environments
  • Hands-on union workforce experience
  • Multi-state employment law knowledge
  • Confident communicator
  • Builder mindset

Responsibilities

  • Own onboarding, orientation, employee records, and HR documentation
  • Serve as primary HR contact for field and office employees
  • Administer benefits, workers’ compensation, and leave programs
  • Support payroll accuracy with union rules and multi-state compliance
  • Partner with leadership on policies and employee handbook
