About The Position

ThriftBooks is seeking an experienced HR Manager to support its Dallas Processing Center. This role is designed for an individual who enjoys direct engagement with Operations leaders and employees, possesses sound judgment for complex employee matters, and can effectively balance compassion with accountability. As the sole onsite HR support for the Dallas facility and the Customer Service Department, the HR Manager will be responsible for employee relations, performance management, investigations, compliance, leadership coaching, and hands-on staffing support. The position requires the ability to seamlessly transition between sensitive employee issues and high-volume recruiting coordination, all while maintaining strong follow-through, professionalism, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a warehouse setting and adept at building credibility with both hourly employees and site leadership. The HR Manager must be capable of calmly managing difficult conversations, identifying risks, documenting concerns accurately, and collaborating with HR leadership on sensitive matters before taking action.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience with expertise in employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Experience supporting hourly employees in warehouse, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, retail, logistics, or similar operational environments.
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and workplace investigations.
  • Strong ability to coach leaders, manage sensitive employee issues, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent written communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote management structure.
  • Experience balancing employee relations with high-volume hourly recruiting and staffing.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms (Paycom preferred), Microsoft Office, and AI-enabled workplace tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations leaders to support staffing needs, workforce planning, and hiring priorities.
  • Manage the recruiting process, including job postings, candidate communication, interview coordination, and hiring follow-up.
  • Coordinate pre-employment activities, onboarding, orientation, and new hire documentation.
  • Maintain accurate applicant tracking and HR records while delivering a positive candidate experience.
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and prepare clear, objective documentation and recommendations.
  • Ensure employment actions are consistent, well-documented, and compliant with company policies.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk employee issues as appropriate.
  • Coach leaders on performance management, corrective action, attendance, conduct, and employee development.
  • Review HR documentation for consistency, fairness, and compliance.
  • Support managers in addressing employee concerns through timely, respectful, and effective communication.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders and employees across the facility.
  • Provide practical HR guidance that supports business objectives while maintaining compliance.
  • Identify workforce trends and recommend solutions related to staffing, engagement, performance, and employee relations.
  • Interpret and apply company policies consistently.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain confidential HR records and partner with Payroll, Benefits, Safety, and HR leadership as needed.
  • Lead new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure employees understand company policies, expectations, and available resources.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee questions and workplace concerns.
  • Promote a positive employee experience through responsive communication and follow-through.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation using Paycom or similar HRIS platforms.
  • Ensure HR processes, documentation, and employment records are timely, organized, and complete.
  • Prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
