This role involves investigating and resolving labor disputes, providing mentorship to plant staff and managers of hourly employees on Union/GM Local Agreements, and leading assigned business functions in day-to-day HR activities. The position requires providing direction and leadership that aligns with company objectives, mission, and culture. It involves working strategically with assigned functional business leaders to improve working relationships, build engagement, increase output, and attract/retain talent, including collaborating with COEs on strategic workforce planning. The role also requires understanding legal requirements related to employee management, reducing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and attending legal meetings on behalf of the company. Collaboration with senior leaders on business function restructures, transformation efforts, job design, and workforce/organizational planning is key. The position plays a principal role in local negotiations and coordinates activities for resolving employee grievances. Administering hourly hiring, transfers, and separations for permanent, temporary, and flex employment is also a responsibility. Frequent involvement with other work groups (Benefits, Payroll, IT, NEPC, Sedgwick, etc.) regarding employee issues and data problems is expected. The role aims to influence the strategic agenda of the organization by building relationships at all levels to gain commitment and belief that HR can contribute to business results, ensuring HR and LR strategy is integrated into business strategy.
