About The Position

HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Human Resources Team as an HR Intern. This is a challenging role in which you will apply your academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment while supporting HarbisonWalker International’s Field HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition Team with various projects. You will gain hands-on experience in areas, such as audits, compliance, engagement surveys, recruitment and data analytics. HWI is the largest supplier of refractory products and services in the United States. With manufacturing sites and distribution centers across the Americas, as well as the major refractory industry research facility in North America, HWI serves virtually every major industry that requires refractory solutions to enhance production and protect assets. Requirements

  • Pursuing a MA, BA or BS degree in organizational development, I/O psychology, human resources, or equivalent minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Requires a general knowledge of best practices in learning including learning theories and instructional design models
  • Requires a problem-solving and analytical mindset, interested in process improvement
  • Requires the ability to influencing people and teams
  • Requires computer operation skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) and other software tools/ solutions as needed to prepare documents and presentations.
  • Requires analytical skills and the ability to assemble data
  • Requires time management and organization skills with accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and individual environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various HR audits and related action items
  • Assist with ensuring HR policies, procedures and practices remain compliant with federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Assist with onboarding new employees and various other new hire initiatives
  • Assist with talent acquisition (posting positions, sourcing resumes, phone screening, arranging interviews, updating interview guides)
  • Assist with employee turnover analysis and implementing recommendations
  • Review and update SOPs and assist with other directed projects
