Position location: This position is located onsite at our Emtek manufacturing facility in City of Industry, CA. The position requires being onsite Monday through Friday, typically starting at 6 AM CT with ability to flex to start at 5 AM, as needed for support of employee initiatives. The HR Generalist provides strategic and hands-on support for the site employees and HR function.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of HR Experience as a HR Generalist or in a similar HR role in general/manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish): speaking, writing, reading.
  • Well-versed in local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and reporting and analysis
  • Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant business field, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with site leadership to drive change initiatives, employee engagement, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead Positive Associate Relations (PAR) activities, including employee relations investigations and issue resolution.
  • Promote and support employee engagement initiatives, including the FBIN employee satisfaction survey.
  • Maintain regular presence on the manufacturing floor to build relationships and proactively address employee concerns.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and policy interpretation to leaders on employee relations, performance, and corrective action matters.
  • Collaborate with Employee Relations and site leaders on employee relations investigations, escalating matters appropriately.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and talent development discussions.
  • Administer HR operational processes within HRIS systems, including Open Enrollment, leaves of absence, terminations, and employee data accuracy.
  • Prepare and validate weekly payroll, ensuring accurate timekeeping, policy application, and compliance.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and initiatives to increase direct hiring and reduce reliance on staffing agencies.
  • Ensure compensation actions are properly reviewed, approved, and administered in alignment with pay structures.
  • Maintain job descriptions and oversee the internal job posting process to support internal mobility.
  • Collaborate with Employee Relations and site leaders on employee relations investigations, escalating matters appropriately.
  • Prepare and analyze standard and ad hoc HR reports; partner with leadership on insights and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and all legal and regulatory compliance agencies as it relates to federal and state of California labor, wage and hour and employment laws.
  • Support HR training and safety initiatives, as needed.
  • Lead HR projects, policy reviews, internal processes and additional initiatives.

  • Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $110,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
