About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, unemployment claims, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role may oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department and assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations. The position involves administrative duties such as reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. It also includes recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants, conducting background checks, implementing new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, and performing routine tasks to administer human resource programs. The HR Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries, participate in employee disciplinary meetings, separations, and investigations, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. A key aspect of the role is staying knowledgeable about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. The position also involves assisting with payroll processing and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, maintaining positive relationships through effective communication. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a human resources generalist capacity
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software
  • Proficiency with PAYCOR system or similar HRIS and talent management systems
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and stoop and kneel occasionally
  • Ability to speak and hear to use telephone, participate in meetings, etc.
  • Ability to effectively use computer, lift papers and files
  • Ability to push, pull, reach for and lift articles up to 10 pounds
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and good driving record
  • Drug testing and fingerprint-based background checks are required as conditions of employment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, separations, and investigations
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Assist with Payroll processing
  • Provide excellent service to meet the expectations and needs of internal and external customers
  • Maintain a positive relationship with employees and external contacts through effective communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Pay: $45,000 annually
