About The Position

The HR Generalist is a dual-focus role, split roughly 50% Talent Acquisition and 50% HR Employee Relations. In the Talent Acquisition half, the HR Generalist implements recruiting and staffing strategies that attract a diverse pool of qualified talent and owns the candidate experience from first contact through the first day at Alto-Shaam. In the HR Employee Relations half, the HR Generalist serves as a resource for employees and leaders, supporting workplace concerns, performance management, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters while escalating complex issues as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant Human Resources experience including recruiting and employee relations.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and procedures, with the ability to continually improve them.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving; outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to initiate and prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast-paced, decision-minded, high-growth, and changing environment.
  • Motivated, confident self-starter who can navigate and lead through change.
  • Ability to work across multiple HR functions daily and with multiple departments and skill sets.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive situations under difficult circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process, using recruiting methods and strategies suited to each role, industry standards, and organizational needs.
  • Partner with department managers to draft accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria, and to develop recruiting strategies for open positions.
  • Manage job postings and advertising; screen applications and select qualified candidates.
  • Schedule interviews, prepare interview questions, and participate in interviews with hiring managers.
  • Manage the onboarding process and complete and process all new hire paperwork.
  • Source candidates through online channels (LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake, etc.) and through a network of recruiters, referrals, interns, and schools.
  • Represent the Company at high school and college job fairs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and with company policies.
  • Partner with leadership to foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, trust, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching to managers on employee relations issues, policy interpretation and application, talent management and development, and organizational design.
  • Serve as a key employee relations contact for management and employees on day-to-day HR issues and ensure they are addressed promptly and that practices and procedures are applied consistently.
  • Consult with business leaders and peers to develop employee engagement and retention strategies.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support that strengthens employee relations and engagement and promotes a positive work environment.
