About The Position

The HR Generalist serves as the primary coordinator for recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and employee integration activities for a Critical Access Hospital with approximately 170 employees. The position manages the full recruitment lifecycle, facilitates a positive candidate and new hire experience, maintains employment records, and supports HR operations. The HR Generalist serves as the first point of contact for routine employee questions and HR-related inquiries while escalating complex employee relations, compliance, and strategic HR matters to the Executive Director of Human Resources. The purpose of this role is to attract, onboard, and retain qualified talent while ensuring compliance with employment regulations, accreditation requirements, organizational policies, and HR best practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.

  • Word processing with a minimum of 60 wpm.
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • HRIS processes.
  • Dependent Adult/Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 6 months of employment.
  • Two or more years of HR experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment efforts for all organizational positions.
  • Develop job postings and coordinate advertising.
  • Source, screen, interview, and coordinate candidate selection activities.
  • Partner with hiring managers regarding workforce needs.
  • Coordinate offers, background checks, references, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Represent the organization at recruitment events and community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate pre-employment activities.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation programs.
  • Coordinate onboarding with departmental leaders.
  • Ensure completion of required training, licensure, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Support employee engagement and retention through effective onboarding.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for routine employee questions.
  • Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees.
  • Maintain personnel files and HRIS records.
  • Assist with timekeeping and payroll inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee records.
  • Monitor mandatory training and certification requirements.
  • Maintain records in accordance with Joint Commission standards and employment regulations.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Provide front-line HR customer service.
  • Maintain employment documentation.
  • Participate in HR process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
