About The Position

MDU Resources Group, Inc. is seeking a Human Resources professional with exceptional communication and HRIS/HCM skills to perform a variety of HR generalist functions. This role will focus on supporting the Human Capital Management system including report development, system management, and data analysis. Other duties may include benefit administration, recruiting, organizational development, and employee relations. The role is responsible for placing safety as the #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others.

Requirements

  • Must possess working knowledge of business and human resource practices at a level normally acquired through completion of a four-year degree in business administration or human resources management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two years human resource experience (for HR Generalist).
  • At least four years of progressively responsible human resource experience (for HR Generalist, Sr.).
  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
  • May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Senior level position requires a human resources certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year of attaining the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with human resources software applications such as UKG, JDE or Oracle.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with HR management to research, develop and communicate various human resource related projects policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Keeps abreast with employment and other HR related laws and Company policy.
  • Assists managers with policy interpretation and provides guidance for compliance.
  • Represents the company on assigned corporate strategy teams and/or business unit teams, provides input for decisions, communicates decisions to management and coordinates implementation.
  • Supports department management in investigating and resolving employee and labor relations issues in compliance with HR policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Utilizes the HRIS system to gather data and complete analysis for management or other departments.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
