About The Position

The Director of People & Culture at Brio in Johnston, IA is a strategic partner to community leadership, shaping an exceptional team member experience through forward‑thinking HR practices that elevate recruitment, engagement, development, and retention. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent HR experience may be substituted for education.
  • Minimum of three years of human resources experience required.
  • Strong generalist background across team member relations, benefits administration, compliance, employment law, and business operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare or hospitality strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment at Brio, including posting positions, screening, interviewing, coordinating leader interviews, and final selection.
  • Oversee due‑diligence processes such background checks and pre‑employment steps.
  • Develop and Lead new-hire orientation program in alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Lead onboarding processes, present orientation materials, and support benefit enrollment for new hires.
  • Serve as a key consultant to leaders regarding performance management and team member relations.
  • Conduct internal investigations and guide leaders through appropriate action steps.
  • Manage team member complaints, grievances, disciplinary processes, and terminations.
  • Participate in unemployment hearings where appropriate.
  • Act as the primary workers’ compensation contact for Heritage House.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all required accident reports and documentation.
  • Coordinate light duty and return-to-work processes.
  • Lead accident investigations and collaborate with leaders to implement improvements.
  • Track, analyze, and present people and culture metrics to both community leadership and Network Support Center leaders.
  • Partner with leadership to create action plans addressing areas of need.
  • Support organization-wide strategy alignment by recognizing trends and implementing solutions that support the WesleyLife vision.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee workplace posters, OSHA reporting, logs, forms, FMLA processes, FLSA issues, and other compliance needs.
  • Maintain complete and audit‑ready personnel files.
