About The Position

The HR Compensation Coordinator Fellow provides operational and analytical support to the Compensation Team and Organizational Excellence Department. This position supports compensation administration, job documentation, personnel actions, HR data management, reporting, records management, and process improvement initiatives. The incumbent works collaboratively with Compensation staff, Payroll, HR professionals, managers, and employees across the agency to support accurate personnel transactions, maintain data integrity, and ensure the efficient delivery of compensation and organizational excellence services. This fellowship provides hands-on experience in compensation administration, HR operations, workforce reporting, and organizational effectiveness while offering structured professional development through the TRS Fellowship Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Management, or a closely related field, awarded within the previous 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, tracks, and processes personnel actions related to compensation, employee status changes, and recruitment and retention incentives.
  • Coordinates and tracks job description requests related to new positions, promotions, reclassifications, reorganizations, and other personnel changes from initiation through final approval and filing.
  • Maintains accurate employee, position, and compensation records in HR systems and departmental files.
  • Maintains confidentiality and safeguards sensitive employee and organizational information.
  • Reviews personnel documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Secures required approvals, monitors document workflows, tracks incoming and outgoing documents, and validates HRIS entries.
  • Generates recurring and ad hoc reports to support compensation administration, workforce planning, and operational decision-making.
  • Reconciles data and identifies discrepancies that require correction, clarification, or follow-up.
  • Responds to employee and management inquiries and provides customer service regarding compensation-related processes and procedures.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with the basic interpretation of applicable HR policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assists with documenting, maintaining, evaluating, and improving compensation and HR business processes and workflows.
  • Provides administrative and operational support to Organizational Excellence staff and departmental programs.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, presentation materials, and other business documents.
  • Provides backup support to Organizational Excellence staff and program areas to ensure continuity of operations during staff absences and peak workload periods.
  • Supports division-wide initiatives, committees, employee recognition programs, events, and special projects.
  • Supports preparation and coordination activities associated with quarterly Board meetings, including updating files, maintaining records, and tracking action items.
  • Coordinates meetings, schedules activities, prepares materials, and manages related logistics for the team and other division staff.
  • Serves as the Compensation records liaison and collaborates with Organizational Excellence records coordinators to support compliance with agency records management policies and requirements.
  • Assists in the development and preparation of standard and ad hoc reports for departmental, organizational, and employee-related needs.
  • Participates in required TRS Fellowship Program activities, including training courses, webinars, quarterly check-ins, classes, mentoring opportunities, learning groups, special projects, and other professional development activities.
  • Completes fellowship assignments, deliverables, trainings, and program requirements within established timelines.
  • Demonstrates continuous learning and professional growth through active participation in fellowship activities.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
