About The Position

This role operates under the general direction of an assigned manager and facilitates administrative duties including payroll, records maintenance, employee onboarding and off-boarding, leave administration, and employee engagement. The position serves as the division's customer service representative and gatekeeper, acting as a point of contact for employee relations matters. Responsibilities include assisting with investigations, responding to HR inquiries, processing new hires and compensation-related forms, and utilizing HRIS for leave, time and attendance, payroll, and records management. The role also involves processing employee separations, conducting exit interviews, initiating FMLA, OJI, and drug testing processes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintaining professional knowledge through seminars, conferences, and publications, and developing effective working relationships with various stakeholders are key aspects of this position. The role requires tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality when handling sensitive issues.

Requirements

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge of legal and industry compliance, by attending HR related seminars, conferences, reviewing publications, and participating in professional associations.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with employees, HR staff, division management, union stewards, and business and city representatives.
  • Exercises tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive and complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and performs administrative duties including payroll, records maintenance, employee onboarding, employee off-boarding, leave administration, and employee engagement.
  • Acts as the division customer service representative and gatekeeper.
  • Serves as a point of contact for employee relations matters and assists with gathering information for investigations.
  • Responds to HR related inquiries and requests for assistance.
  • Processes new hires and compensation related forms such as add-pay, salary changes, reimbursements, etc.
  • Utilizes HRIS to monitor and administer employee leave, time and attendance, payroll, and records maintenance.
  • Assists with the processing of both voluntary and involuntary employee separations and subsequent exit interviews.
  • Initiates division-wide FMLA, OJI, and drug testing process to maintain consistency of documentations and communications.
  • Ensures strategic initiatives and projects are administered in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
