  • Multi-state US employment law expertise (CA + NJ at minimum).
  • Experience supporting a warehouse, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or 3PL environment.
  • Strong track record of running workplace investigations independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously across multiple sites and time zones.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior HR partner to all US site leaders, providing day-to-day coaching and strategic guidance.
  • Translate business priorities into US-specific people strategies involving workforce planning, retention, and engagement.
  • Partner with the HR Director to align US and Canadian people programs while respecting jurisdictional differences.
  • Partner directly with US site Operations leaders to drive engagement, retention, and safety culture.
  • Own US multi-state employment law compliance, specifically for New Jersey, California, and additional states as we scale.
  • Maintain hands-on accountability for California-specific exposure, including PAGA risk management, meal/rest break enforcement, and wage statement accuracy.
  • Administer leave laws (CFRA, PDL, paid sick leave) and partner with Cal/OSHA.
  • Maintain the US employee handbook, state-specific addenda, and overall HR policies.
  • Lead workplace investigations across US sites with documentation that meets legal defensibility standards.
  • Coach managers on performance management, corrective action, and termination decisions.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for sensitive ER matters across the US footprint.
  • Partner with Payroll, Benefits, and the Insurance Specialist on US-specific programs including medical, 401(k), workers' comp, and unemployment.
  • Own the US onboarding and offboarding experience, ensuring I-9 compliance and state-specific notice requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Health & Safety on US safety programs, incident investigations, and workers' comp claims.
  • Support talent acquisition on US hiring, offer processes, and compensation benchmarking.
