The Need For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking an HR Business Partner, Global Functions to provide strategic people partnership across global and U.S.-based functions, strengthen leadership capability, and help cultivate a healthy, mission‑aligned culture. This position is based in the Washington, DC area and is available to be hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays). It reports to the Chief People Officer and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience in an HR Business Partner or client-facing HR role
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, organizational design, performance management, and talent development
  • Proven ability to support restructuring, transformation, and change management initiatives
  • Strong capability in interpreting HR data and translating insights into action
  • Experience with job architecture, job evaluation, and succession planning
  • Proficiency with HRIS and people systems (Workday strongly preferred)

  • Experience supporting functions such as Finance, Technology, Operations, or Legal in a global organization strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR advisor to assigned global and U.S. based client groups, translating business needs into people strategies and HR priorities
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, restructuring, and growth initiatives to ensure scalability and effectiveness
  • Implement and execute enterprise-wide HR programs and rhythms in partnership with Global People Support vertical leaders
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, goal setting, feedback, corrective action, and leadership development
  • Use people data and insights (e.g., headcount, engagement, turnover) to identify trends and recommend data-informed interventions
  • Lead succession planning and support development of leadership pipelines across supported functions
  • Champion a healthy, mission-aligned culture grounded in IJM’s values, Code of Ethics, and commitment to excellence
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including managing and conducting investigations when assigned, while mitigating organizational risk
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of policies, employment practices, and compliance requirements
  • Partner closely with the Chief People Officer on special projects and serve as a point of collaboration with Regional HR Directors
  • Participate in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.
