About The Position

UniFirst First Aid + Safety is seeking a reliable and hardworking HR Assistant to join our community. As an HR Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the HR department in key areas, including applicant screening, onboarding facilitation, safety compliance, policy alignment, employee engagement, and benefits administration. When working with UniFirst First Aid + Safety we provide a variety of shifts. Our standard is a 5-day work week, enjoy two days off a week. We have an immediate opening and provide on the job training.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 - 2 years of HR or administrative experience; preferably in recruitment, compliance, or benefits administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support remote and in-person teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Attention to detail showing initiative and ability to organize workload with little to no direction.

Nice To Haves

  • associates or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, and or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and OSHA compliance is a benefit.
  • Familiarity with HRIS or ATS software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage job postings, ATS, and review applications to identify qualified candidates, coordinating interviews and phone screenings to assess qualifications and culture fit.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork, coordinate orientations, set up employee accounts, and communicate policies and safety protocols during onboarding.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance, track certifications and training, support safety audits, and collaborate with leadership to address safety concerns.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and communicating HR policies, and conduct training to ensure understanding and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Plan employee engagement initiatives, analyze feedback for culture improvements, and serve as a resource for employee concerns and morale enhancement.
  • Support benefits enrollment and inquiries, ensuring compliance with benefit regulations and deadlines.
  • Maintain confidential employee records, assist with timekeeping and payroll, and generate HR metrics reports while supporting HR projects and data management.
