The Human Resources Assistant Manager supports the execution of corporate HR strategy at the plant level within a battery manufacturing environment. This role serves as a critical liaison between Headquarters (HR Director, Legal, and Executive Leadership) and site operations , ensuring consistent implementation of HR policies, compliance standards, and workforce initiatives. The position requires a strong operational HR leader who can manage employee relations, support recruitment, ensure compliance, and align HR practices with manufacturing production goals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR a plus .
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting multi-level operations and working in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of HR compliance, labor laws, and employee relations practices.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Paychex preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Well‑developed organizational and reporting capabilities, coupled with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven capability to collaborate cross‑functionally with leadership and operations teams.
  • Effective communication and change management capabilities.
  • Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and positively engage at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce HR policies, procedures, and benefit updates from corporate HR and legal.
  • Partner with the Plant General Manager to support workforce planning and daily operations.
  • Manage employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Support recruiting efforts by sourcing, screening, and coordinating candidates with leadership.
  • Oversee timekeeping audits and support payroll accuracy in partnership with third-party providers.
  • Monitor payroll processes to ensure accuracy for salaried staff and hourly staff.
  • Conduct daily audits of timecards submitted by staffing agencies to reconcile invoices.
  • Coordinate with third-party payroll providers.
  • Track and report HR metrics, employee issues, and compliance updates to HQ.
  • Support performance management processes through Paychex.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company HR regulations.
