About The Position

Stewart McKelvey is seeking an HR Advisor to join their People & Culture team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This full-time, permanent role is responsible for supporting a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, and HR program administration. The HR Advisor will collaborate with managers and employees to provide HR guidance, support, and practical solutions, contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The role involves advising on HR programs, procedures, and best practices, supporting HR projects, and acting as a primary contact for HR-related inquiries. A significant part of the role includes leading full-cycle recruitment processes, from posting jobs to sourcing and headhunting. Additionally, the HR Advisor will support onboarding initiatives, conduct HR orientation sessions, and assist with wellness and engagement programs.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant HR experience, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.

  • Relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Support a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, and HR program administration.
  • Provide guidance, support, and practical HR solutions to managers and employees.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide advice and recommendations related to HR programs, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support various HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related questions.
  • Assist the HR Management team with employee relations matters and day-to-day people support.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment processes, including posting positions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, preparing offer letters, and supporting hiring managers.
  • Lead proactive sourcing and headhunting initiatives and other recruitment strategies.
  • Support the Firm’s presence at recruitment events in the community.
  • Support onboarding initiatives by conducting HR orientation sessions and welcoming new employees.
  • Assist with wellness and engagement initiatives, including supporting Firm-wide events and maintaining resources and content.
