Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Human Resources Advisor (Recruitment) supporting our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska. The Human Resources Advisor (Recruitment) reports to the Human Resources Manager, and the primary role will be responsible for supporting the recruitment function in performing administrative and HR Functions within the Human Resources Department based at our Fairbanks location.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a recruitment and selection environment, preferable mining and heavy industry exposure.
  • Demonstrated competence with office processes, systems, equipment and software.
  • Broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as general administrative responsibilities.
  • Advanced computer literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters effectively and discreetly.
  • Must display initiative, be able to work independently and learn what is needed to perform required tasks.
  • Ability to get along with others as a team player, have an excellent work ethic and attendance record.
  • Solid critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Current Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with significant experience in the MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and software; ADP, Adobe DC & Sharepoint experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable US HR laws, rules, and regulations, e.g. COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA and FLSA.
  • Working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations and compensation as well as the auditing process.
  • Awareness of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct end to end recruitment, in line with site requirements and budgeting.
  • Prepare employment contracts/agreements and new starter packs for new employees.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new employees.
  • Enter data regarding new employees and coordinate reporting and audit compliance on a monthly basis.
  • Coordinate new employee visas as required and review ongoing visa eligibility to meet legislative requirements on a monthly basis.
  • Develop, implement and review HR systems, policies and procedures as required.
  • Support various site wide training initiatives and career development programs when required.
  • Prepares position vacancy postings and conducts all recruitment processes, ensuring adherence to Company recruitment procedures.
