Patriot is seeking a mid-career level High Performance Computing (HPC) Software Engineer to join our Space team. This role involves providing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)/SE Linux based HPC services throughout the lifecycle for computational requirements, architecture, acquisition, and operations to federal government customers. The program supports key supercomputing capabilities for scientific and technological problem-solving, utilizing cutting-edge HPC technologies to ensure scientists and engineers can fully leverage modern HPC systems. The candidate will be an active member of the Technical User Support (TUS) team, interacting with team members, the TUS team lead, program Chief Scientist, customers, users, and site staff while on-site with a specific R&D customer. The TUS team's goal is to help users achieve faster "time to science" by working closely with them to port, optimize, and parallelize codes according to their requirements. The role also includes mentoring junior team members, designing and delivering training workshops, tutorials, and documentation. The position is on-site with a customer focused on their workflow, modeling and simulation, and data requirements, collaborating with the Chief Scientist and TUS team lead to design and implement solutions. Responsibilities also include system performance analysis through benchmarking, tuning libraries, and focusing on scientific modeling, numerical processes, and other scientific software issues. The engineer will investigate, analyze, and recommend solutions for user codes and other HPC software issues, adhering to best practices for the program's HPC resources, storage systems, and secure computing environment, and assisting users with production shared resources, scheduling systems, and high-performance data storage.
