About The Position

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team, where you will help design, deploy, and operate scalable cloud platforms that support data-intensive and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, data scientists, and application teams to modernize workflows, enable cloud-native development, and support large-scale analytics and scientific computing. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps automation, and data platforms in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • English (B2+ or higher) – comfortable using English every day for writing/reading documentation and for live collaboration with teammates around the world (calls, chats, meetings).
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including but not limited to BigQuery, BigTable, or Cloud Run
  • Strong DevOps background, including: Containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, Terraform
  • Proficiency in Python and shell scripting
  • Experience with Nextflow pipelines and cloud-based workflow orchestration
  • Experience with HPC environments, scientific computing, or HPC-to-cloud migrations
  • Working knowledge of Big Data tools and concepts, including query optimization

Nice To Haves

  • Experience migrating on-prem or legacy HPC workloads to the cloud
  • Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, and networking best practices
  • Experience supporting data science, bioinformatics, or research-driven workloads
  • Familiarity with cost optimization and FinOps practices
  • Experience mentoring teammates or contributing to shared engineering standards
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, BigTable, and Cloud Run
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Build and support CI/CD pipelines
  • Containerize applications and workflows using Docker and deploy them to cloud-native runtimes
  • Develop and support Nextflow pipelines for cloud execution
  • Enable and optimize HPC workflows, including cloud migrations and hybrid architectures
  • Support Big Data and analytics workloads, including BigQuery performance and cost optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate computational requirements into scalable cloud solutions
  • Contribute to best practices around security, reliability, automation, and cost efficiency
