The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, Office of Property and Resource Development, is committed to developing and managing safe, decent, affordable, and well-maintained housing for low and extremely low-income persons who are affected by mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or substance use disorders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Counseling.
  • One (1) year of case management experience, including housing resources for adults living with mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Valid Driver's License for transporting clients as necessary.
  • Proficiency with various software and tools related to case management is essential, alongside solid documentation skills for maintaining accurate records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with landlords and community partners.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to identify their unique housing needs and assist them in navigating housing opportunities, including the creation of comprehensive housing plans.
  • Manage a caseload, provide in-home, housing-focused skill supports, ensuring clients have the tools and resources necessary to secure stable, safe housing and achieve greater independence.
