About The Position

The Housing & Residence Life Coordinator (HRLC) manages day-to-day residential operations, including housing assignments, occupancy, student staff supervision, summer housing, community programming, student conduct, and crisis response. The HRLC advises student leaders, oversees Residence Life communications and social media, and provides high-level support to residential students. The position collaborates with campus partners to support an inclusive and engaging residential community. This position is a full-time, live-in position with a typical work day being 9:00 am - 5:00pm. Frequent evening and weekend commitments should be expected. With end date of 12/15/26.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in residence life, student affairs, housing, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising student staff and supporting student development.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with diverse and multicultural populations and fostering an inclusive community.
  • Knowledge of student support, crisis response, conflict resolution, and referrals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, student-centered environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with housing or student conduct systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages housing assignments, occupancy, room changes, waitlists, and consolidation processes.
  • Maintains accurate housing records and eligibility information.
  • Administers the housing database, including applications, assignments, billing, and occupancy reporting.
  • Collaborate with Residence Life, Accounting, Registrar, International Student Affairs, and other campus partners.
  • Supervise up to 14 student office assistants, including training, coaching, performance feedback, and payroll processes.
  • Advise the Resident Student Staff Committee and support student leadership development.
  • Participate in RA selection, training, Move-In, Move-Out, and other Residence Life initiatives.
  • Coordinate housing and programming for the SAIC Early College Program Summer Institute (ECPSI).
  • Manage summer housing applications, assignments, billing, communications, check-in/check-out, and related operations.
  • Partner with summer staff to ensure a positive student experience.
  • Plan and support residence hall programming and educational initiatives.
  • Manage Residence Life social media and digital communications.
  • Develop newsletters and other communications for residential students.
  • Collaborate across campus to promote an inclusive residential community.
  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation and respond to student, facilities, and emergency situations.
  • Provide support and follow-up for students experiencing distress or mental health concerns, including coordination with campus and community resources.
  • Respond to critical incidents in partnership with Student Affairs, Campus Security, Wellness Center, and other departments.
  • Adjudicate low-level student conduct cases using Symplicity.
  • Builds effective relationships with campus partners and communicate student and facility concerns appropriately.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, planning, committees, and events.
  • Supports DEI initiatives, student learning, and departmental goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Lives on campus and participates in evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Assists with student and facilities emergencies as needed.
