About The Position

A full-time contract position responsible for the development and implementation of housing navigation, stabilization, and recovery supports as part of the Gwekwaadziwin Miikan continuum of services. The Housing & Recovery Navigator will support individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness by assisting with housing placement, tenancy stabilization, and access to mental health, addictions, cultural, and community supports. This role operates across Withdrawal Management, land-based treatment, Live-In Aftercare (LIAC), and Community Aftercare programs to ensure continuity of care and long-term housing success.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement is a degree in social services, social work, Indigenous studies, addictions, or other related human service diploma, with mental health and addictions training
  • Experience working in mental health, addictions, homelessness, or housing support services
  • Knowledge of housing systems, income supports, and community resources
  • Proven experience with data management, office administration, and electronic records
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
  • Possesses a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must have a relevant diploma and/or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Withdrawal Management Team Leader
  • Program development and implementation related to housing and recovery supports
  • Responsible for supporting intake and housing assessments of program participants
  • Development of individualized housing and recovery plans
  • Electronic file and paper file management
  • Communicate with participants and their families regarding housing and recovery supports
  • Support participants in securing and maintaining housing, including rental applications and landlord communication
  • Assist with eviction prevention, rental arrears support, and housing stabilization
  • Supporting referrals to external organizations including housing, mental health, addictions, and social services
  • Responsible for liaising with community organizations, housing providers, landlords, and First Nations communities
  • Group and one-to-one interactions focused on life skills, housing readiness, and recovery support
  • Support transitions between Withdrawal Management, Treatment, Live-In Aftercare, and Community Aftercare
  • Assist participants in accessing employment, education, and training opportunities through partnerships such as Kenjgewin Teg and local employers
  • Assist in implementation of research and outcome measurement projects
  • Various administrative duties as needed
