The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) is seeking a Housing Quality Services Inspector to conduct housing unit inspections to ensure compliance with Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) HUD housing quality standards. This role involves inspecting units before lease approval, conducting annual or biennial inspections, and performing complaint/special inspections. The inspector will advise HCV program participants and landlords on solutions to meet HUD HQS, prepare and enter inspection data into the computer system, and distribute inspection reports. The position requires explaining standards and regulations to landlords and tenants to foster good relations, answering telephones, and scheduling housing inspections. A comprehensive and current knowledge of HCV program policies, HUD regulations, and City building codes is essential. The inspector will also conduct HUD HQS inspections in neighboring cities as an independent entity.
