About The Position

The Housing Outreach Ambassador will serve as a representative of The University of Texas at Austin and University Housing and Dining by facilitating tours of University Residence Halls, assisting with housing outreach events and initiatives, and supporting operations within the main University Housing and Dining office. The Housing Tour Ambassador Program is coordinated through the Occupancy Management office within the Residence Life unit of University Housing and Dining. This position reports directly to the Manager for Outreach.

Requirements

  • Complete 24 semester hours at the University of Texas prior to employment.
  • Must be a regularly enrolled student as defined by the Quantity of Rule in the General Information Catalogue at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Must have and maintain a 2.5 or above cumulative GPA.
  • Must have and maintain good judicial standing at the university.
  • Desire to serve as a representative of the University to students and families from various backgrounds.
  • Comfortable speaking with large and small groups as well as engaging in one-on-one conversations.
  • Experience providing customer service.
  • Ability to be flexible and energetic in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to complete all required training and attend team meetings.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks such as event setup (lifting, pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Previous on-campus living experience.
  • Preferred availability: Mondays & Fridays 8am-5pm

Responsibilities

  • Showcase campus and student life through residence hall walking tours and other recruitment events for prospective students, families, and other guests.
  • Communicate with prospective students and families throughout the on-campus housing application and contracting processes via phone, email, and other methods.
  • Serve as panelists, lead presentations, and as student hosts for on and off campus events for prospective and admitted students.
  • Assist with event logistics, including setup, takedown, and coordination of campus visit programs.
  • Support operations of the main University Housing Office and North and South campus residential communities by greeting and assisting visitors and completing office tasks such as data entry or preparing for other large-scale outreach initiatives.
