About The Position

Stable housing can be the foundation that helps families achieve long-term success. As a Housing Navigator, you will work with participants enrolled in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) to increase access to safe, affordable housing while helping individuals and families overcome barriers to stability and self-sufficiency. Through housing navigation, advocacy, community partnerships, and resource coordination, you will support participants as they work toward their housing, employment, and family goals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys relationship-building, creative problem-solving, community collaboration, and helping people navigate complex systems to achieve meaningful change. Requirements

  • High school diploma and four years of related experience OR an associate degree in a related field and two years of related experience OR a bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to problem-solve, make sound decisions, and work independently
  • Experience working with individuals and families facing barriers related to housing, poverty, employment, or other life challenges
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, email, internet, and database systems
  • Knowledge of community resources, public benefits, and supportive service systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with participants and community partners
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, reliable transportation, and ability to transport participants as needed
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and person-centered services

Responsibilities

  • Partner with MFIP participants to increase access to affordable housing, resources, and stable shelter
  • Develop individualized plans and connect participants to services that support housing and self-sufficiency goals
  • Build relationships with landlords, property managers, housing authorities, and community partners to expand housing opportunities
  • Assist participants in accessing employment services, benefits, financial literacy education, tenant education, and supportive services
  • Conduct assessments and identify resources that support individual and family goals
  • Provide advocacy and support to help participants navigate housing and community systems
  • Implement outreach and engagement strategies that promote housing stability and long-term success
  • Coordinate referrals and monitor participant progress to support ongoing eligibility and engagement
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records in accordance with policies and funding requirements
  • Collaborate with community organizations, service providers, and internal teams to improve participant outcomes
