About The Position

This position is responsible for accepting and processing residents staying in the lodge/shelter overnight. The Housing Monitor ensures safety, security, and compliance with house rules by monitoring resident activity during their assigned shift. They maintain accurate and complete records and logs, and ensure the lodge/shelter is kept neat and orderly.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.
  • Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year experience performing security or social service work preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts and processes residents staying in the lodge/shelter overnight.
  • Monitors resident activity to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records and logs.
  • Ensures the lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.
  • Ensures rooms are in proper order before resident arrival.
  • Checks fire equipment and ensures proper working order.
  • Checks clients into the lodge/shelter and prepares/monitors client intake cards.
  • Determines if client has been prepaid by sponsor or credit.
  • Prepares resident roster and maintains resident property records.
  • Prepares and distributes meal tickets and laundry tokens.
  • Distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items.
  • Secures and distributes client medications as required.
  • Receives, receipts, and processes payments for rent and updates intake cards.
  • Obtains client signatures on forms and lodge/shelter rules and regulations.
  • Checks the security of all windows and doors.
  • Monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds of the entire facility.
  • Records unique situations occurring on assigned shift.
  • Responds to emergencies calmly and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Opens and closes lodge/shelter doors at designated hours.
  • Completes required paperwork for client intake.
  • Inputs data into the computer to maintain records and generate client lists.
  • Prepares, tallies, and balances monies with receipts.
  • Sorts client intake cards and files those of clients who did not check in.
  • Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents and ensures proper performance.
  • Answers the telephone and responds to questions regarding lodge/shelter operations.
  • Wakes up lodge/shelter clients and instructs them to collect sheets.
  • Ensures all residents leave the lodge/shelter by the designated time.
  • Answers the crisis hot-line and provides crisis intervention, telephone interviews, and client counseling.
  • Completes the minimum number of annual required training.
