About The Position

AID Atlanta, an affiliate of AHF, is seeking a Housing Information and Resource Specialist (HIRS) to assist clients in finding information and resources for housing stabilization, health, and socio-economic challenges. The HIRS will conduct screening assessments to determine eligibility for AID Atlanta's case management, HOPWA/HUD funded programs, and referrals to external housing service organizations. This role involves developing and maintaining a database of housing resources and cultivating relationships with community housing programs to stay updated on service availability and program changes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Experience with social service or housing programs.
  • Knowledge of AIDS program development and non-profit service agency preferred.
  • Strong experience in assessing client needs for housing or other social services.
  • Considerable skill in developing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in grant compliance, reporting, and administration in a non-profit organization is preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing-related difficulties affecting the well-being and health status of individuals with HIV.
  • Familiarity with housing entitlement systems and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the client population and representatives of government and private agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to potential housing sites, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up with clients within two business days of initial contact to assess eligibility for case management and program services using the HOPWA screening tool and collecting required documentation (proof of HIV status, Residence, and Income).
  • Initiate electronic records for new clients in the agency database and upload proof of eligibility.
  • Perform timely and accurate input of all required client information into Client Chart (data entry and supporting documentation) to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Document all work done with and on behalf of clients in agency and/or funder client database systems (e.g., ECW, e2Fulton) according to documentation standards.
  • Refer clients who meet screening criteria to the Department of Client Services for case management and program services.
  • Maintain client information and records confidentially.
  • Establish and maintain a list of potential housing resources and leads.
  • Cultivate relationships with housing providers to develop and maintain an active roster of income-restricted communities, affordable rental properties, landlords, and permanent housing resources.
  • Screen clients for services on an on-call (as needed) and on-going basis.
  • Generate monthly program updates and HOPWA screening reports.
  • Assist Housing Manager and Associate Director of Housing in preparation for and during HOPWA audits.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Housing and/or HCC multi-disciplinary team.
  • Prepare all mandated reporting as required by supervisor, contract agency, and funding agency.
  • Attend supervision and other required staff meetings.
  • Undertake other special projects, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
