About The Position

This role is responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned hospital areas/facilities, performing routine cleaning requests, and meeting established standards of cleanliness. The housekeeper will utilize departmental work patterns and cleaning steps, collect and transport waste, soiled linens, or materials, and ensure waste holding areas are cleaned daily. They will also obtain, utilize, and replenish supplies in a cost-effective manner, accurately record data on all work-related forms, and communicate task status. Additionally, the housekeeper will move furniture in patient areas, follow directions from the charge person, and utilize resources to prevent damage to all surfaces. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Good organizational skills, independent thinking skills, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and services any assigned hospital area/facility.
  • Performs routine cleaning requests from customers within departmental duties.
  • Performs daily clean-up and care of equipment and materials.
  • Meets hospital's established standards of cleanliness.
  • Utilizes department established work patterns and cleaning steps.
  • Collects and transports regulated and non-regulated waste, soiled linens, or materials to designated locations in a manner described in department procedure and per regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures containers/liners are secured and placed in an upright position to prevent spillage.
  • Cleans waste holding areas daily.
  • Obtains, utilizes and replenishes supplies in a cost effective manner according to hospital/department procedure.
  • Accurately records supplies taken/removed on department inventory form.
  • Records accurate data on all work related forms.
  • Communicates on form as to status of task, verbally to shift charge person.
  • Assures all requested data fields of forms are completed.
  • Moves furniture including, but not limited to beds, chairs, gurneys in patient areas.
  • Follows direction from the charge person.
  • Utilizes resources to prevent damage to all surfaces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
