About The Position

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of hotel common areas, including restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers, and elevators. This role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, assisting room attendants, and ensuring guest satisfaction and safety. The Houseperson also supports the department in maintaining hotel standards and may assist with special projects and training.

Requirements

  • Ability to thoroughly clean restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators.
  • Ability to vacuum, dust, polish, straighten furniture and decor, clean/sanitize surfaces and remove waste.
  • Ability to empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash from guest rooms.
  • Ability to clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors.
  • Ability to polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guest room doors, and elevator doors.
  • Ability to obtain amenities and supplies for room attendants.
  • Ability to turn mattresses and move furniture.
  • Ability to respond to guest questions and provide guest assistance, directions, and information.
  • Ability to provide instruction/guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
  • Ability to support the department in maintaining building and guest service to hotel standards.
  • Ability to assist shampooers with the relocation of furniture.
  • Ability to report suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc. to the Safety/Security department.
  • Willingness to step in and support coworkers and team as needed to ensure efficient operation.
  • Ability to perform special assignments and projects as requested.
  • Willingness to attend meetings/training as required by management.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly clean restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators which includes vacuuming, dusting, polishing, straightening furniture and decor, cleaning/sanitizing surfaces and waste removal.
  • Empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash from guest rooms.
  • Clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors.
  • Polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guest room doors, and elevator doors.
  • Obtain amenities and supplies for room attendants.
  • Turn mattresses and move furniture as assigned by supervisor.
  • Respond to guest questions and provide guest assistance, directions, and information as requested.
  • Provide instruction/guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
  • Support the department in any area that will maintain the building and guest service to hotel standards.
