The Houseperson receives a daily task sheet from the Housekeeping Supervisor and is assigned a two-way radio for communication during their shift. They follow outlined procedures for cleaning hallways, storage, and public areas, using cleaning supplies according to established procedures to ensure areas are disinfected. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining hallways, stairwells, floor lobby areas, storage, and elevator landing areas on assigned floors, collecting soiled linens, and ensuring no foreign objects are mixed with the linen. They transport linen from the laundry area to assigned floors and supplies from general storage to floor linen closets. The role involves moving and arranging hotel furniture, reporting maintenance or equipment problems, and reporting missing or damaged items. Tasks also include sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors, deep cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, and sills. The Houseperson empties trash receptacles from public areas, cleans debris from driveway and garage areas, and is responsible for correcting unacceptable job tasks. They are responsible for the proper use and return of keys signed out. The role requires handling guest requests in a timely manner and managing soiled linen and trash according to standards. Assistance in other areas of Housekeeping may be required.
