About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of public areas within the hotel. The Houseman/Public Area Cleaner ensures that all guest areas, walkways, and common spaces are clean, safe, and well-stocked. This position requires punctuality, adherence to uniform standards, and the ability to work efficiently to meet productivity expectations. Teamwork and a proactive approach to tasks are essential, along with seeking management approval for any overtime. The role also involves assisting other departments as needed.

Requirements

Understand the uses of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Read and follow safety labels on bottles and instructions for use.
Operate hotel equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

Experience with power washers, carpet cleaners, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, parking lot sweepers, and snow blowers.

Responsibilities

Sweep and clean car port area, hotel walkways and sidewalks, removing debris.
Clear winter weather walkways by shoveling and applying ice treatment.
Pick up and remove trash throughout the parking lot and from outside receptacles, transporting it to the dumpster.
Clean and maintain public areas including meeting rooms, lobby, hallways, elevators, stairways, public restrooms, guest laundry room, and employee break room.
Restock supplies in public areas and employee break rooms.
Empty trash receptacles and dryer lint traps.
Vacuum and/or mop floors, wipe down machines, and clean mirrors in public areas.
Clean the Fitness Center and ensure all equipment is in working order.
Post safety signage, such as wet floor signs.
Wear protective gear like gloves, goggles, and kneepads for safety.
Pick up soiled linens from Room Attendant carts and transport them to the laundry department.
Remove trash from Room Attendant carts and transport it to the hotel dumpster.
Deliver clean linens and requested supplies (e.g., bedspreads, pillows, blankets) to Room Attendants.
Clean, organize, and restock guest supplies in all storage rooms to ensure adequate availability and proper storage.
Complete assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual projects (e.g., washing windows, rotating mattresses, cleaning carpets, stripping floors, washing walkways, cleaning cobwebs).
Understand the use of all cleaning equipment and chemicals, follow safety labels and instructions.
Operate hotel equipment safely and efficiently.
Assist the Front Desk with requests such as delivering faxes, daily newspapers, or amenities.
