About The Position

The Houseman is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, working areas, and hotel premises in a clean and orderly manner. This full-time position requires a strong leader, self-motivator, and team builder who can respond promptly to requests and identify maintenance issues. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, linen management, and assisting other housekeeping staff.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments.
  • Identify and report preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom, and carpet shampoo machine.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, and restrooms.
  • Wash walls and ceiling, move furniture, and turn mattresses.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
  • Dust and polish metalwork.
  • Collect soiled linen for laundering.
  • Receive linen supplies from floor shoots.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts.
  • Remove trash collected by room attendants.
  • Walk all assigned floors at the beginning and end of the shift to collect newspaper bags, newspapers, trash, and soiled linen.
  • Pick up clean linen and refill the par stock of linen on each floor pantry.
  • Deliver towels, cribs, cots, and other items to guest rooms upon request.
  • Perform duties of a room attendant when necessary.
  • Sort linen and stock room attendant closets.
  • Refill the par stock of guest amenities and supplies on each floor pantry.
  • Help house cleaners with heavy lifting during super cleaning/spring-cleaning of rooms.
  • Clean all public areas in the prescribed manner while following department standard operating procedures.
  • Remove soiled linen and trash from the poolside and other service areas and take to appropriate locations.
  • Assist room attendants/house cleaners with placing bed boards, rollaway beds, extra beds, etc.
  • Report missing/found articles, damage, or merchandise problems to housekeeping supervisors.
  • Always respond in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other colleagues.
  • Take up any tasks assigned by supervisors as and when needed.
  • Report to work in the required uniform and in adherence with the Hotels Dress Code Policy.
