About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Part Time Housekeeper to work our day shift. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. The position involves tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Responsibilities may include cleaning various locations within the facility, wearing appropriate protective equipment, and maintaining stocked, clean, and tidy storage areas. Environmental Services Technicians will use pagers and other technology as needed and may assist in laundry areas. Depending on the location, access to technology applications may be available. The role involves significant physical activity, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull variable weight limits. The individual will be on their feet for the majority of their shift and may be exposed to noise from equipment. Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to use computer.
  • Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
  • Ability to be on feet for the majority of their shift.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas.

  • Wearing the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines.
  • Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Using pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
  • Assisting in the laundry areas as appropriate.
  • Using technology applications depending on location and availability of programs.
