About The Position
The Western Tidewater Health District is seeking a Housekeeping Worker to provide essential housekeeping support to all areas of the Isle of Wight Health Department. This position performs routine custodial and housekeeping services and assures security of the buildings. Characteristic duties include collecting trash, litter, and debris from the buildings and grounds; vacuuming carpets; mopping floors; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms; and setting up rooms for meetings and conferences following established guidelines for safety, security, and work priority.
Requirements
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper usage, safety protocols, and appropriate storage practices.
- Understanding and adherence to health and safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to keep cleaning supplies and equipment properly organized and ensure a clean and efficient workspace.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies
- Knowledge of safety practices as related to work
- Skill in the operation of manual power cleaning equipment
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to interact and communicate well with internal and external customers
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of position
