About The Position
The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is seeking a Housekeeping Worker. This is a classified 12-month position with state benefits, including health insurance, retirement, life insurance, and disability coverage. The VSDB offers a supportive and positive team setting, low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance, free life insurance, and a school-residential partnership that supports a 24/7 learning environment. A housekeeping worker at VSDB will provide educational and residential facilities with acceptable housekeeping in order to maintain sanitation standards.
Requirements
- Working knowledge and experience in performing residential space cleaning
- Ability to give and receive instruction in verbal and in written form
- Proficiency level of “Novice” in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Language Proficiency Scale or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or must obtain following school policy
- Ability to understand safety, sanitation and cleanliness needs.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s license with driving record that reflects sense of responsibility.
- Willingness to work alternate schedules
Nice To Haves
- Working knowledge of the operation of manual and power cleaning equipment
- Working knowledge of classroom and office space cleaning tasks
- Working knowledge of commercial (non-industrial) cleaning tasks
