About The Position

The Housekeeping Services Specialist works under the general supervision of the Housekeeping Services Group Leader and performs hard surface and carpet cleaning procedures, wall washing, and upholstery cleaning. Processes waste and linen. Performs other support functions as assigned. This is one of the best positions in the hospital because every day is different. If you like working in a team, while also owning the work that you do, Environmental Services is for you! Speed is a big factor for this job as there is lots to do and our job is to make sure each patient has a safe and clean environment during their time at the hospital. The managers here are great at giving employees time to learn the pace of work and are always happy to provide assistance and guidance. Environmental Services is like a big family. We all look out for each other and genuinely like working together. Employees are always willing to help each other out. One of the biggest factors about working with the EVS team at Holland Hospital is that you are working with the best of the best. Many of the employees worked through some of the hardest points of the pandemic and they stayed. They continued to work hard and were an integral part of keeping the hospital clean and safe. While dealing with bodily fluids can be a part of the job, it happens a lot less than what outsiders think and is nothing like you see on TV! Patient interaction is a huge part of the job. You can help make their time here enjoyable and safe.

Requirements

Cleaning patient care areas, rest rooms, offices, and isolation rooms.
Removing waste and soiled linens.
Maintaining the housekeeping cart and restocking the housekeeping closet.

Responsibilities

Performs hard surface floor care.
Performs burnishing operations.
Performs scrubbing and finish removal operations.
Performs finish application.
Performs carpet care procedures.
Performs spot removal operations.
Performs damp buffing, shampooing and carpet extraction.
Performs upholstery cleaning.
Processes waste and linen in accordance with established policies and procedures. Includes medical waste.
Transports general waste from collection points to compactor.
Transports medical waste from collection points to storage room.
Transports clean and soiled linen in accordance with established policies and procedures
Performs support functions as needed.
Prepares conference center for meetings.
Performs spills clean up.
Performs wall washing and window cleaning.
