About The Position

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring the cleanliness and quality standards of the hotel are met. This role involves supervising housekeeping staff, inspecting guest rooms and public areas, managing inventory, and assisting with administrative tasks such as payroll and employee evaluations. The supervisor will also work alongside the team during peak periods and in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager.

Requirements

Three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Must know how to effectively use the various pieces of equipment/tools used in housekeeping.
Ability to perform medium work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances.
Ability to kneel, bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms.
Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.
Long hours sometimes required.
Must be able to multi-task.
Good communication skills - fluency in reading, writing and speaking English required.

Nice To Haves

A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise and ensure completion of all duties of Housekeeping staff.
Log all requests and confirm completion.
Maintain key control.
Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention.
Balance and prepare individual paperwork for closing of shift.
Coach and train room attendants.
Inspect all rooms assigned to room attendants in his/her section of the hotel on a daily basis to ensure for quality and brand standards.
Notify room attendants of any deficiencies found in the room and note on the attendant’s board.
Return room attendant to correct deficiencies when applicable.
Re-inspect corrected rooms.
Check appearance of all employees to ensure compliance with New Castle Standards of Appearance.
Prepare room attendants’ daily assignments in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager.
Submit maintenance reports/requests to the Engineering department.
Confer with Guest Services regarding information about discrepant rooms via phone or in person.
Physically check discrepant rooms when needed.
Work side by side with the team during high occupancy, staffing shortages or peak periods.
Inspect room attendants’ closets/carts/sign board at the end of the attendants’ shift.
Supervise and inspect night attendant’s duties.
Inspects Laundry room daily.
Check for overloading of washers/dryers.
Inspection of lint traps to ensure cleaning every 6 hrs.
Check for cleaning of Laundry area.
Completes a floor walk of all floors, inspects carpets, walls, ashtrays, mirrors & lights.
Monitor and manage inventory levels of housekeeping supplies.
Assist in preparing weekly payroll.
Supervise staff, including assisting Manager with interviews, hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach & council, recommend and conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, recommend discipline & termination as appropriate.
Completes inspections of all public areas, offices, washrooms, back of the house. Etc..
Inspects equipment to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance.
Inspect guest rooms for quality and cleanliness.
Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
Check and respond to electronic communications in a timely fashion.
Oversee Housekeeping Department in absence of Housekeeping Manager.
Participate in all hotel and departmental meetings as requested.
Other duties as required.
