About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and general good order of the facility, as well as the cleanliness and adequacy of facility linen and resident clothing. The role involves hiring and training housekeeping, janitorial, and laundry personnel, maintaining department schedules, conducting employee evaluations, documenting disciplinary actions, and ensuring adherence to facility policies and procedures. The supervisor will also perform building and grounds inspections, coordinate with the Engineering Department, order supplies within budget, process invoices, and attend meetings as directed by the Administrator. Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in institutional housekeeping and laundry services.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility staff in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to observe proper safety and sanitary techniques.
  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment.
  • On call as necessary.
  • Must be available for emergencies during off-duty hours.
  • Ability to cost out future replacement costs.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of cleaning protocols, infection control, fire prevention and safety measures in long-term care are highly valued but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Hires and trains housekeeping, janitors, and laundry personnel.
  • Maintains department schedule to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Responsible for yearly written evaluations of all department employees.
  • Documents disciplinary actions and terminates department personnel according to facility policy as necessary.
  • Ensures all facility policies and procedures for housekeeping and laundry are followed and updated as needed.
  • Performs periodic inspections of the building and grounds to ensure proper repair, cleanliness, and laundry service quality.
  • Coordinates with the Engineering Department.
  • Places orders for necessary supplies in accordance with departmental budget.
  • Processes incoming merchandise, prepares invoices and submits for approval and payment.
  • Performs other duties and attends meetings at the direction of the Administrator.
