About The Position

Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Staff member to join their team. This role involves coordinating daily housekeeping services with nursing services, performing routine cleaning in resident living and recreational areas, and ensuring a clean and sanitary environment. The position requires adherence to infection control procedures, respect for resident rights, and the ability to work in various conditions and circumstances. The role may involve working beyond normal hours, on weekends and holidays, and responding to emergencies. The environment can expose staff to potential hazards such as falls, burns, odors, dust, disinfectants, infectious waste, and hazardous chemicals.

Requirements

Ability to coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services.
Ability to perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
Ability to clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
Ability to clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
Ability to clean walls and ceilings.
Ability to remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces.
Ability to clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
Ability to discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles.
Ability to clean vacant rooms as assigned.
Ability to ensure work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
Knowledge of isolation cleaning procedures and infection control procedures.
Ability to discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.
Understanding and maintenance of residents’ rights.
Ability to knock before entering a resident’s room.
Ability to work in all areas of the facility.
Ability to move intermittently during working hours.
Ability to handle frequent interruptions and reschedule cleaning activities.
Ability to communicate with housekeeping personnel and other department personnel.
Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Ability to respond to call-back during emergency conditions.
Willingness to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.
Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services.
Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
Empty and sanitize ash trays daily into appropriate metal containers with self-closing cover devices.
Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and heating/cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas daily.
Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures, ensuring water marks are removed.
Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting, using appropriate caution/safety signs.
Clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners.
Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
Ensure work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
Perform isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.
Assure residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights are maintained.
Knock before entering a resident’s room.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Works in all areas of the facility.
Communicates with housekeeping personnel and other department personnel.
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
