Housekeeping Staff coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services and perform routine and assigned cleaning throughout the facility, including resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, hallways, stairways, and elevators. Duties include cleaning furnishings and fixtures, windows and mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings; handling trash and infectious waste; and following established isolation and infection-control procedures. Staff must keep work areas and equipment clean and properly stored, use appropriate cleaning and disinfecting solutions, and set up safety signs when cleaning floors. The role involves working in all areas of the facility and interacting with residents, personnel, visitors, and others. Employees must respect residents’ rights and privacy, including knocking before entering rooms, and communicate with housekeeping and other department personnel. The work may involve interruptions, exposure to infectious waste, hazardous chemicals, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other workplace hazards. Employees may need to work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays; cover other shifts or positions; and respond to emergency call-backs. Attendance and participation in continuing education programs are expected. Other duties may be assigned.
