About The Position

In Hotel Rumbao, our Housekeeping House Person team is essential to our guests' experience. This key position directly contributes to creating the rhythm, comfort, and cleanliness that distinguish every stay in the heart of Old San Juan. We are looking for responsible, detail-oriented individuals committed to providing impeccable rooms, organized areas, and a welcoming environment that reflects our high standards of hospitality and service. Ideal candidates demonstrate a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and a passion for service. Weekend availability (Friday - Sunday) is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks according to the operational needs of the Housekeeping department.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain established standards of cleanliness and service in a dynamic and fast-paced hotel environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with guests, supervisors, coworkers, and other hotel departments.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to respond professionally to guest requests.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and, at the same time, perform effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining guest and service areas clean, organized, and in optimal condition.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete assigned tasks correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport Housekeeping supplies, linens, equipment, and other materials necessary to perform job functions.
  • Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, stand, and walk continuously; climb stairs and push or pull heavy equipment.
  • Ability to push carts with a weight of up to two hundred (200) pounds.
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for variable periods of time, including extended periods.
  • Frequently perform twisting, bending, stooping, reaching movements, as well as standing, walking, talking, listening, observing, and smiling during the performance of job functions.
  • Weekend availability (Friday - Sunday) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Review the assigned area and perform general removal of trash, waste, or any residue present on the floors.
  • Check the assigned floor's service closets and restock linen supplies as needed.
  • Stock the linen area with clean linens and necessary supplies for operation.
  • Maintain service closets clean, organized, and in proper condition. This includes removing trash, cleaning shelves and surfaces, sweeping the area, removing items that do not belong in the closet, and transporting them to the designated storage area.
  • Collect all dirty linens from vacant/dirty rooms and stay-over rooms assigned to Room Attendants and deposit them in the corresponding laundry chute.
  • Remove all dirty glasses from Room Attendants' carts and closets. Transport them to the Dish Steward area in the kitchen and return clean glasses to the floor service closets, placing them on the corresponding racks.
  • Clean and maintain designated areas using appropriate chemicals, tools, and equipment, including: guest room hallways, floor service closets, service hallways, elevators, rails, and landings, guest laundry, stairs, and access areas.
  • Keep stairwells and access areas free of stored items, trash, materials, or objects that may pose a safety risk.
  • Remove stains, scuff marks, and dust from carpets and other floor surfaces.
  • Timely deliver any items requested by guests, following the hotel's established procedures.
  • Deliver all found items (Lost & Found) and any guest room keys that have been found to the appropriate department.
  • Distribute and replenish linens and supplies in designated areas, including the linen chute area, according to operational needs.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, order, and proper condition of assigned public areas, including hallways, service areas, stairwells, elevators, and other spaces under Housekeeping's responsibility.
  • Assist in general Housekeeping department operations as needed, including support for Room Attendants and other department staff.
  • Complete other Housekeeping-related tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager, in accordance with the hotel's operational needs.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and established standards.
  • Comply with safety and security procedures and regulations established by the company and the hotel.
  • Know and follow the department's and hotel's fire prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Correctly use the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Immediately report any unsafe condition, hazard, or situation that may affect the safety of guests, coworkers, or the property to management.
  • Report any accident, injury, near miss, property damage, property loss, or other safety-related incident to management.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by complying with all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-groomed personal appearance at all times, in accordance with the standards established in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform any other related function or task requested by the supervisor or manager.
  • Provide support to other Housekeeping staff members when necessary, according to operational needs.
