About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning assigned areas within the hospital, including patient rooms, outpatient areas, and sterile processing. The attendant will perform tasks such as washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment; cleaning walls, doors, ceilings, televisions, and windows; making patient beds; sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors; collecting and disposing of waste, including hazardous waste; and arranging furniture for events. The role requires adherence to departmental procedures, OSHA regulations, and CDC recommendations for infection control and personal protective equipment. The position also involves completing work from previous shifts and reporting any incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of care. The attendant must be able to lift 50 pounds, be mobile, read and understand instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and comply with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) provisions. Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period is required.

Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.
Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment.
Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.

Responsibilities

Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions.
Cleans assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows.
Strips and makes patient beds.
Sweeps and mops hard floors and vacuums carpet.
Cleans in outpatient and sterile processing using proper cleaning solutions and as prescribed by departmental procedures.
Thoroughly completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without sacrificing the quality of work.
Completes work left from previous work shifts and reports all incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedures.
Collects waste from all areas of hospital and sanitizes all waste cans.
Collects soiled linen.
Collects hazardous waste as established by Infection Control Committee.
Climbs ladder to hang cubicles, window drapes, or reach high areas for other cleaning purposes.
Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs.
