About The Position

The work involves performing a variety of cleaning duties at the Long-Term Care Facility of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent performs a variety of cleaning and sanitary duties in assigned offices and general areas of the building. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher ranking supervisory employee. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances

Responsibilities

• Vacuums, sweeps, mops and buffs corridors, stairs, stairwells, walls, furniture and equipment
• Uses extension pole, ladder and scaffolds while cleaning walls, washing light fixtures, changing drapes or other activities
• Shampoos and changes rugs when necessary
• Cleans resident rooms when assigned requiring a high degree of cleanliness to minimize possible spread of infection
• Gathers and disposes refuse as directed
• Cleans public and resident-use bathrooms, scouring sinks, wet mopping floors, disinfecting toilet bowl, wiping down all surfaces and replenishing necessary supplies
• Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks
• Maintains supply rooms for housekeeping throughout the building
• Uses a variety of manual and mechanical equipment
