About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. Good Samaritan – Bethany is a 79-bed long-term skilled care and transitional care facility located in Brainerd, Minnesota. This is a part-time position with 48 hours bi-weekly, working day shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves working every other weekend and rotating holidays, with an additional weekend incentive of $1.25 per hour. A sign-on bonus is available if eligibility requirements are met. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The position requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning may occur in patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. Proper protective equipment must be worn, and storage areas, equipment, and carts must be kept stocked, clean, and tidy. Access to pagers and other technology for appropriate use is provided. Assistance in laundry areas may be required. Depending on location and program availability, access to technology applications may be provided. Physical activities involve considerable use of arms and legs, moving the whole body through climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. The ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or ramps is necessary. The individual will be on their feet for the majority of their shift and may be exposed to noise from equipment. Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs, including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
Ability to use computer.
Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
Ability to push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
Ability to be on feet for the majority of the shift.

Responsibilities

Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas.

Cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
Wearing proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines.
Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
Using pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
Assisting in laundry areas as appropriate.
Using technology applications depending on location and availability of programs.
