About The Position

This position reports to the Environmental Services Director and Assistant Director. Position performs special cleaning projects as well as daily cleaning duties in accordance with HHS standard procedures of the housekeeping department and with hospital objectives. Assigned areas may include patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas and public restrooms. This is an on-call position and will often be a 7-8 hour shift, but shift times and work days may vary to cover the needs of the facility. COVID-19 room cleaning will be an occasional part of the job, but all necessary PPE will be provided to the employee.

Requirements

  • Capable of standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching continuously throughout a shift.
  • Capable of pushing and pulling a maid cart, linen cart, or various equipment (over 100 lb.) continuously throughout a shift.
  • Able to lift 0 – 40 lb. frequently.
  • Must be able to handle/interact with all chemicals used (i.e., bleach, wax, Virex, etc.).
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and even other hours as needed per assigned area.
  • Must have communication skills in English.
  • Attendance is required to be successful.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination table, restrooms, offices, and other common areas within the hospital environment to established standards.
  • Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and special procedure rooms in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Collects and disposes regular trash, RMW (Regulated Medical Waste), and recycle materials.
  • Collects and removes soiled linen into appropriate bin.
  • Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizers, other supplies as needed.
  • Dust mops floors with microfiber using standard operating procedure.
  • Wet mops floors with disinfectant using microfiber material following standard operating procedure.
  • Handles various types of cleaning chemicals in compliance with applicable regulations and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, spot wash walls, clean and polish fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows and sills and other items as required.
  • Reports any conditions requiring maintenance attention or repair to immediate supervisor.
  • Performs daily cleaning procedures in accordance with HHS training standards.
  • Records work completed on Area Assignment Checklist.
  • Polices assigned area at the beginning of each shift.
  • Responds to Housekeeping pages.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by department Director.
